The International Summer Research Program is an eight-week summer program offered by the International Office of the University of Guanajuato. It seeks to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to gain training and mentorship in scientific research, alongside cultural immersion.

Participants will:

  • Conduct 8 weeks of research under the guidance of a faculty member
  • Participate in cultural activities
  • Meet with peers
  • Present a poster / oral presentation of research results
  • Gain a professional network

Program Dates: June 11–August 1, 2025

  • Law, Politics and Government

  • Economics, Finance and Management

Total Working Hours: 240 hours

Application information

Application file:

  1. Letter of nomination from the International Office (full name and email indicating that the student is academically recommended to conduct research)
  2. Letter of recommendation from a professor
  3. Copy of current passport (page with photo)
  4. Academic record
  5. Letter of intention (written by applicant)

Application files sent directly by students will not be considered.

Letter of Acceptance:

Students will obtain an Acceptance Letter after their documents have been thoroughly reviewed and approved.

Electronic registration:

Students whose official nominations have been approved will receive an email containing a username and password to register on the UG electronic platform:
https://intraug.ugto.mx/

It is essential for students to finalize their registration by April 25, 2025.

Assignment to research group:

As of May 25, 2025, students who have successfully finished their electronic registration may join a professor’s research team at the University of Guanajuato, allocated based on their preferred field of study as indicated in the recommendation letter from a professor and a statement of intent.

This information will be communicated to each student via email.

Financial Information

The program fee is covered by the University of Guanajuato

Costs covered by the participant:

  • Round trip to and from Guanajuato International Airport (BJX)
  • International Medical Insurance
  • Personal expenses during the stay (Accommodation and meals*)

Universidad de Guanajuato stipend:

Among the students who have been accepted into the program, a subset will be selected to receive financial assistance for accommodation and meal costs during the latter half of the program.

Every student who has been accepted to the program is automatically eligible for this scholarship and does not need to submit a separate application.

Participants are hereby advised to ensure that they have adequate financial resources to cover their living expenses prior to their journey to the city of Guanajuato, as financial assistance will not be provided to all attendees.

Induction course as a mobility student – June 12-18, 2025
Opening – June 19, 2025
Research period – June 23 to July 31, 2025
Delivery of final products – July 21 to 25, 2025
Cultural immersion activities – Dates to be determined
Congress and closing – August 1, 2025
Certificates of Participation – August 4 to December 31, 2025
