Charlotte Telfer-Wan, Simon Fraser University, winner of the BC Study Abroad: Stories from Abroad Scholarship

Charlotte Telfer-Wan is a university student and dance artist from the small town of Qualicum Beach, British Columbia. She is currently studying Contemporary Dance and Sport Science at the University of Auckland in New Zealand on an academic exchange from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC. Before attending university Charlotte has spent 14 years of her childhood dancing ballet, jazz, and modern. Her passion for dance encouraged her to continue studying and performing. She has also recently developed an interest for studying the physical demands of the active body and its interaction with dance, injury and nutrition. In the future, Charlotte intends to pursue a career as a professional contemporary dancer. This career will give Charlotte the opportunity to travel and share with the world contemporary culture from Vancouver. During her semester abroad Charlotte is proud to represent Canada in New Zealand in the community while meeting various artists, lecturers, and students. She appreciates how diversity and intellect from experiences abroad enrich her education and life.
