Amanda Phillips, Capilano University, winner of the Spring 2023 BC Study Abroad: Stories from Abroad Scholarship

Study Abroad Destination: Austria

Amanda Phillips is a 4th-year business student at Capilano University. Born and raised in the small city of New Westminster, BC, Amanda has always yearned to see what the world has to offer. She always knew she would spend a semester abroad, but the question she always had was “where?”.  When the partner institutions were released at her home university, she knew Vienna and FHWien der WKW were the city and school for her. Amanda has a deep-rooted interest in marketing and studying at FHWien der WKW has allowed her to explore her passion under a European lens. When she is not in class or studying, Amanda can be found at the rink playing ice hockey or exploring the beautiful wilderness of BC on multi-day hikes. An avid photographer, Amanda is looking forward to using her creative eye to capture Vienna at its best and to bring back stories and photos to encourage future students to embark on their own journeys abroad.
